Summer at Perimeter is busy and we need your help. We have summer student positions available throughout the Institute, running from May 5, 2025 to August 22, 2025.
2025 is dedicated to celebrating Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary. The Perimeter Events Summer Student is a highly organized and enthusiastic role dedicated to Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. This individual will assist in planning an executing public and Advancement events associated with Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary Platform, and help develop event planning and tracking systems for internal and public events using various Perimeter services.

Primary Duties Include:
- Planning and execution of public events associated with PI’s 25th Anniversary Platform:
- Planning and day-of-production execution for PI Public Lectures and other public events as well as other symposia and scientific events
- Update event planning tools, calendars, lists, etc.
- Support Perimeter’s Merchandise/SWAG Program as required, which may include inventory, ordering, managing the physical and online stores, etc.
- Supporting Advancement event coordination, including:
- Assist with internal logistics like room bookings, IT and audio/visual needs, postings on Perimeter’s intranet, catering and security
- Update and maintain event documents and records in CRMs (i.e. creating guest lists in Salesforce and tracking RSVPs)
- Gather event collateral, decor, signage etc.
- Other Advancement records support as required
- Develop Bistro (restaurant) event planning and tracking systems for all departments to use when requesting Bistro services, including systems to measure event success to be used for all Bistro services
- Assist in planning all Bistro events during the summer term as required
What you need to have:
- Working towards a degree in business, hospitality or another related field, or equivalent experience
- A detail-oriented individual able to prioritize and ask for help and resources when needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Stellar customer service skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in using and managing spreadsheets, and comfort with quantitative knowledge and details
If we’re being greedy, we’d also like:
- Event planning and organization experience
- E-commerce platforms experience or knowledge
