Coordinator, Government Relations and External Affairs

The Coordinator, Government Relations and External Affairs provides integral support to the Government Relations and External Affairs (GREA) team, collecting, maintaining and reporting on data relevant to Perimeter and its funding and activities. Committed to the organizational goals of the Institute, the Coordinator, Government Relations and External Affairs is a vital member of the GREA team, connecting internal and external stakeholders through timely, accurate, and streamlined reporting processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting and Analysis
- Manages and owns internal quarterly reporting process for all business units
- Collects and validates required reporting data from various sources (e.g. Salesforce CRM)
- Manages reporting requirements from federal and provincial funders, tracks and prepares for relevant deadlines
- Responds to ad hoc reporting requests from internal and external stakeholders and government funders
- Creates narrative-based reports of activities and targets for audiences including government, donors, and granting agencies
- Maintains dashboards to track ongoing reporting commitments
External Relations and Government Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintains contact and relationship data and campaign information for Government Relations and External Affairs newsletter
- Creates, maintains and tracks data for Government Relations and External Affairs including visitors to Perimeter, engagement from partners, International Year of Quantum activities, external events related to Perimeter’s 25th anniversary, etc.
- Provides data related to Perimeter activities to partners at Waterloo Export Development Canada (EDC) and other stakeholders across the Quantum Valley to promote the region externally
- Coordinates internal logistics at Perimeter for government visits and hosted events
- Works with Communications team to plan follow-up communications to Perimeter visitors and drive digital engagement
- Updates website and intranet with all current partnerships and provisions for partnership use
Grants and Awards
- Collaborates with the Grants & Awards Officer to collects metrics/data and produce reports as needed
- Assists Perimeter researchers in collecting relevant metrics and data needed for grant applications and/or grant reporting
Research Security and Data Management
- Manages research security flagging within Perimeter’s internal tools
- Tracks and performs ongoing audits of Research Security Risk Assessments on Perimeter’s partnerships
- Works across Perimeter business units to ensure data quality and compliance with Federal and Provincial research security guidelines
- Perform ongoing data quality audits on Perimeter’s data across all business units
Required Education, Knowledge and Abilities
- Completed Postsecondary Education in a relevant field of study
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a relevant field or highly service oriented environment
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Strong Interpersonal abilities as demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals
- Proficient in MS applications including Excel and Word
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and deliverables with strong attention to detail
- Self-starter. Motivated by sense of ownership, passion, and pride for quality
