Strong gravity

Strong gravity explores cosmic cataclysms powerful enough to warp the fabric of spacetime. Areas of space where gravity is extremely strong (like neutron stars, black holes, or the big bang) serve as a natural testing ground for theories of gravity, including Einstein’s general relativity and alternative theories. Perimeter researchers seek to understand and characterize the ways that curved or dynamical spacetimes are connected to other fundamental aspects of physics. Research in strong gravity shares ties with cosmology, quantum field theory, and quantum gravity.
