Perimeter Institute is an independent, not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the private sector and academic community.
A Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) made up of eminent international scientists provides third party, independent reviews and reports to the Board on the Institute’s scientific progress. Regular independent financial and peer-reviewed scientific audits provide accountability to the institute’s funders and stakeholders.

Director Marcela Carena i s responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategic direction of the organization.
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
COO Paul Smith reports to the Director and is in charge of the day-to-day operations of Perimeter Institute.

Finance and Audit Committee
Assists the Board of Directors with oversight of Perimeter’s long-term sustainability and stability of finances.
Investment Committee
This oversight committee follows a board-approved investment policy of guidelines, standards, and procedures.

Volunteer ambassadors within the business and philanthropic communities, helping us grow strategically and internationally.

These volunteers help increase the number of women in physics and mathematical physics at Perimeter.
