Dan received his PhD from MIT, then spent two years at Johns Hopkins University and one year at the Institute for Advanced Study before accepting a position as Assistant Professor at The University of Western Ontario. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2004 and Professor in 2010. He has been an Affiliate at Perimeter since 2001. My research interests include algebraic topology (especially stable homotopy theory and model categories), derived categories, modular representation theory, mathematical physics (quantum gravity), algebraic and scientific computation, and category theory (especially higher categories).
