Reporting to the Associate Director, Infrastructure and Support Services, the IT Technology Specialist Level 2 is a key member of Perimeter Institute’s Technology Services Infrastructure team, responsible for delivering reliable technology solutions and exceptional support to advance the Institute’s academic, scientific, and administrative activities. This role provides multi-tier technical support, manages end-user devices and accounts, and contributes to the implementation and optimization of IT systems and processes. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm, a professional approach and positive attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies. 

     What You’ll Do: 

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for all end-users, including leadership and researchers, across devices, applications, and accounts.
  • Manage ticket lifecycle while tracking all updates and communications through the ticket lifecycle in the Jira ticketing system
  • Procure, deploy, and maintain end-user devices, software, and related inventories.
  • Oversee the onboarding/offboarding processes for user accounts and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, guides, and knowledgebase resources.
  • Support configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of endpoint platforms and centralized services.
  • Provide technical support for meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Assist with automation scripting, vendor reviews, and basic infrastructure tasks.
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call support rotation. 

    What You Bring: 
     
  • 2–3 years’ experience in an IT services role supporting a hybrid environment (cloud and on-premises)
  • Completed post secondary education in IT, business, or related field.
  • ITIL Foundation certification and relevant experience with IT Service Management best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows OS, MacOS, Microsoft 365, Adobe products, and collaboration tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Zoom).
  • Advanced knowledge of endpoint hardware including laptops, desktops, iPhone, Android and all tablets. 
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, JAMF), identity management (Azure AD, OKTA), and security solutions (Sophos, BitLocker, Defender, FileVault).
  • M365 Admin experience (SharePoint, Devender, Intune, EntraID, Exchange, Teams).
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals and security best practices, scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash), VPN/ZTNA, and AV systems.
  • Understanding and practicing knowledge of AI tools (eg. ChatGPT, Copilot). 
  • Ability to multitask, managing multiple priorities while working in an environment with frequent interruption.
  • Strong communication, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical individuals. 
  • Strong detail-oriented problem-solving, and organizational skills
