Perimeter is seeking an Email Marketing Specialist who will help the Institute connect with its priority audiences through timely, relevant communications.

As the Email Marketing Specialist, you are a creative and clear professional who will develop a deep understanding of Perimeter’s stakeholders – including public and private supporters, the scientific community, and the general public.

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you are a motivated marketer with email experience and a knack for diving into data to make informed, strategic decisions. As a member of Perimeter’s Communications team, you share the importance of fundamental science, and the value of Perimeter, in support of institutional goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in managing email marketing across the different departments of Perimeter – including list curation and management, email drafting, templating, scheduling, and reporting

  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to help plan and create tailored content for email campaigns and communications related to Perimeter’s goals of fundraising, recruitment, outreach, communicating science, and building the overall Perimeter brand

  • Oversee Perimeter’s audience segmentation, message targeting and conversion – i.e., moving funding and recruitment audiences along the engagement and nurturing pathways

  • Write, design, and edit email marketing campaigns to various audiences (donors, teachers, and other subscribers), including curation and management of various lists and databases, strategic recommendations to stakeholders, management, execution, and post-campaign reporting

  • Create, design, and maintain lead-generation landing pages and forms (HubSpot), including all back-end workflows

  • Champion the contact relationship management (CRM) (Salesforce), and the marketing automation (HubSpot) systems as a super-user, and support data integrity, analysis, and extraction; implementation, monitor, adjusting and reporting on campaigns

  • Develop internal communications including Perimeter’s weekly internal e-newsletter (“PI This Week”), institutional announcements, and more

  • Compile and analyze relevant email marketing metrics and use them to inform and guide strategy, and reports for leadership and the Board, etc.

  • Audit the Marketing Automation tool (HubSpot) to ensure Perimeter remains in good standing with email compliance. Quarterly audits to ensure data is accurate, lists are cleaned up, old contacts deleted, etc.

  • Assist in assuring and reporting that Perimeter is compliant with the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation and other regulations for e-communications

  • Stay up-to-date on email and digital marketing trends and make recommendations to Perimeter’s digital marketing strategy

Required Knowledge & Competencies

  • A completed postsecondary education in marketing, communications, digital marketing, or related field

  • Email marketing and communications experience, including previous experience running digital marketing campaigns, MA, and CRM systems

  • Highly developed writing/editing and communications skills, with a talent for explaining difficult concepts in clear and accessible ways

  • Experience with relevant tools including Salesforce (or comparable CRM), HubSpot (or comparable), with an eye for detail and precision

  • Demonstrated skills and accomplishments in preparing, sending, and improving email marketing efforts in a corporate context (Portfolio, Case Studies, or Examples)

  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills with a high attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, and as a team member

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously with minimal supervision

  • Additional Assets Include: Experience in a not-for-profit setting, knowledge of relevant people in the scientific, academic, political, bureaucratic, media and outreach circles and a passion for communicating science
