A legacy is more than a gift. It’s a vision for the future.

From the moment humans first looked to the sky, we’ve been driven by curiosity. That same drive powers the work of theoretical physicists today — asking the deepest questions and pushing the boundaries of what we know.

Legacy donors to Perimeter are part of this enduring tradition. They believe in bold ideas. They want their values — and their curiosity — to live on through exploration.

"I strongly believe that Perimeter changes the world... We have many, many examples in the past how the outcome of theoretical physics research has not only led to incredible life-changing technological benefits, but more importantly, has elevated the human race as a whole!" - Mike Sues, Perimeter Institute Supporter

A legacy that fuels curiosity, discovery, and opportunity.

From groundbreaking research to world-class training and inclusive outreach, your gift powers the full spectrum of Perimeter’s mission — expanding human knowledge, mentoring the next generation, and sharing physics with more minds.

Every legacy tells a story.

From outreach and equity to research and mentorship, every legacy gift reflects a personal story -
and a belief in physics as a force for good.

Emmy Noether

Programs like the Emmy Noether Initiatives support the next generation of women in physics — part of Caroline’s enduring legacy.

Caroline Farrell

Caroline Farrell spent her career helping students find their voice and confidence in classrooms. As the first female lecturer at Princeton University, she understood firsthand the importance of opening doors, and making sure others could walk through them.

When she discovered Perimeter’s Emmy Noether Initiatives, she saw a chance to extend that impact long after retirement.

“Equity in science has always mattered to me — and I believe in planting seeds I may never see bloom.”

Caroline’s legacy gift supports programs that encourage young women and other underrepresented groups to thrive in physics, such as the Emmy Noether Emerging Talent Fund Program.

The Outreach Store

Donor-funded outreach programs ignite curiosity in students like Sejal - helping them see themselves in science, often for the first time.

Sejal Woods

Sejal was introduced to Perimeter through a school field trip. She arrived curious — and left changed. Seeing women scientists in action made a lasting impression and sparked a belief that she, too, could pursue science.

“It was amazing. I saw a woman scientist do an experiment and I thought — I could do that too.”

That moment of inspiration stayed with her. Today, Sejal dreams of becoming a physicist. Her journey is still unfolding, but it began with a spark — made possible by donors who support outreach programs that bring science to life for the next generation.

Ryan Fraser

Ever since I was a child, viewing the Milky Way outside my rural backyard, I've been enthralled with Physics, Astronomy, and Cosmology. That childhood love would turn into a minor in physics in university, and my hobby today as an astrophotographer. Perimeter has been an amazing inspiration to me - the facility is incredible; the scientists and staff are inspiring and world-class. And, to top it off, the public educational events are always spectacularly informative. Every time I visit, it reminds me of the wonder of the universe through my childhood eyes.

In an era where it is becoming increasingly evident that governments cannot be relied on to fund scientific research, it’s incredibly important that we all support this great institution. It is unique in the world and brings to Canada the finest minds in Physics and Cosmology from around the globe. Our understanding of nature, space, time and physics rests on the future of this gem of an organization. I'm proud that my strategic giving has helped create and maintain this inspiring space for the world’s greatest minds and will help keep it around long after I am gone.

Your imagination can shape the future.

A legacy gift is about belief — in science, in discovery, and in the possibility that your vision can live on through something bigger. At Perimeter, your gift becomes part of a global movement — fueling the next breakthrough, inspiring the next curious mind, and advancing discoveries that can impact humanity for generations to come.

“Legacy giving is ultimately a gesture of belief — in people, ideas, and futures we might not see, but help make possible.”
Marcela Carena, Executive Director
