Perimeter celebrates 25 years of discovery
Perimeter is turning 25, and we want you to join us in a celebration of physics in 2025.
Throughout the year, we’ll be hosting an exciting array of events to celebrate the curiosity, wonder, and groundbreaking research happening here and around the world. Perimeter is a place of discovery and exploration. We are explorers of the infinite. And the infinitesimal. We’ve made discoveries that push at the boundaries of human understanding. And there is more to come.
But we don’t do it alone. It takes an entire community – of Canadians, and of global citizens – to unlock the secrets of the universe, from everyday science enthusiasts to visionary philanthropists and exceptional scientific partners. We cannot wait to come together with everyone who has made this possible. To look back, yes, but to look ahead too. This yearlong celebration is for you.
Join in on the festivities
Since our founding, Perimeter has pushed the boundaries of theoretical physics. And we don’t intend to stop. Sign up today for early invites to events, the latest news about all things physics from quantum to cosmos, and so much more. It’s a big universe—let’s explore it together!
Events to spark your curiosity and sense of discovery
Since opening our doors in 2000, we’ve made breakthroughs in everything from quantum computing to particle physics. It has changed the way we see the world. This is your chance to commemorate the biggest moments in physics, and dive into the innovative research that will lead to tomorrow’s major discoveries. Here’s a peek at some of what’s to come:
In February 2025, Perimeter will host a travelling exhibit featuring art and artifacts from the life and era of famed Italian scientist Galileo Galilei. On display outside of Europe for the first time ever, this exhibit is made possible by the support of the Italian Embassy and the Galileo Museum in Florence.
Throughout the year, we’ll be ramping up our public lecture series with some star-studded speakers, so you can learn about cutting edge science straight from the experts themselves. We’ll also be joining our local community to participate in Doors Open Ontario, and in Waterloo’s Lumen Festival.
Don’t live near our Waterloo campus? Don’t worry, plenty of celebrations are being planned across Canada and virtually. The first cross-country stop is coming to Halifax in February, follows by more in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and beyond. And as always, you can sign up to explore a whole universe of physic with updates sent straight to your inbox. So whether you love science or are simply sci-curious, there’s something for you.
Finally, be sure to mark your calendar now: all of this culminates in September with a unique week-long festival in Waterloo, showcasing what the next 25 years of discovery and exploration will look like.
