Junior Website Translator/Editor 12 Month Contract

Perimeter Institute is seeking a Junior Website Translator/Editor for a 12-month contract to support our efforts in meeting French Accessibility requirements and strengthening our engagement with French-speaking communities.  Contract compensation includes, salary, extended health care benefits, paid time off and valuable training experience.

As the Junior Website Translator/Editor, you are a meticulous and adaptable communicator who will develop a deep understanding of Perimeter’s needs – aligning translated content with organizational goals and accessibility standards.

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you are a proactive individual with experience in translation and content editing, possessing a keen eye for cultural nuances and technical accuracy.

Core Responsibilities

  • Translate and localize website content and digital assets to French, ensuring adherence to accessibility and quality standards. 
  • Work closely with tools to review and refine translations, maintaining the tone and scientific context of the original content. 
  • Collaborate with technology teams to train language models on past translations, creating a robust support system.
  • Provide editing support to writing staff, ensuring clarity and consistency across content before publication.
  • Assist in managing and publishing articles directly to the website, collaborating with the digital team to optimize content presentation.
  • Participate in ongoing digital projects, including support for website redesign and new content development, ensuring timely and effective translation outputs.

Required Knowledge & Competencies

  • A degree or certification in Translation, French Studies, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in translation and editing, particularly in a digital context.
  • Fluency in French and English with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with translation management systems and familiarity with translation tools.
  • Capable of handling feedback and using data-driven insights to improve content quality.
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities, with a capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Assets Include:

  • Experience in web content management and SEO.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and their application in digital content.
  • Passion for digital inclusivity and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
