PSI Fellow (3-Year Contract)

Job type: Academic Staff

Perimeter Institute is seeking to fill a contract PSI Fellow position.

PSI Fellows provide outstanding support for all aspects of the programs offered by the Academic Programs departments.

Most notably, the fellows provide support to our flagship Perimeter Scholars International master’s program (PSI). As part of this support, fellows will typically give lectures (or attend lectures given by faculty), organize and supervise tutorials, manage homework, and possibly attend the PSI winter school. Fellows may also have the opportunity to organize and deliver learning activities to students in other aspects of the department, including the PhD program, the PSI START (PSI Student’s Training Accelerator for Research in Theory) program, and the bridge program. Fellows are involved in the admissions process for both PSI and PSI START. Fellows interact on an ongoing basis with students in individual and group study and assist in the evaluations of students.

PSI fellows are also encouraged to actively engage in research in their field(s) of interest.

Applicants should hold a PhD in theoretical physics, have the ability to master the material taught in the courses, and have demonstrated aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching physics.

Applicants are requested to complete a short general information form and submit a curriculum vitae and a list of publications. Additionally, please include a statement describing your interest and experience in teaching, as well as an inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) statement describing your experiences and plans for creating/advancing a culture of equity and inclusion within your classrooms.

If you are pre-selected based on your application, you will be contacted by our search committee to request at least 3 letters of reference on your teaching and research ability, which will be added to your application.

The appointment will be for three years. Ideally, the successful candidate will start in January 2022. The salary will be commensurate with related experience. We welcome all applicants to apply by December, 6, 2021. However, applications will be considered until the position has been filled.

Perimeter Institute is committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous/Aboriginal People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. Applicants who require special accommodation in order to complete their application/interview are encouraged to contact [email protected] for assistance.
