PERIMETER INSTITUTE – UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO COXETER POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Department of Mathematics, University of Toronto invite applications for two Coxeter Postdoctoral Fellowships to be held jointly between the two institutions for three years starting July 1, 2018. Applicants are expected to show outstanding promise in research and teaching and play an active role in the joint mathematical physics group between Perimeter and Toronto.  

Perimeter’s areas of strength include classical gravity, condensed matter theory, cosmology, particle physics, quantum fields and strings, quantum foundations, quantum information, and quantum gravity. The Department of Mathematics, University of Toronto supports research in most of the main fields of pure and applied mathematics. The Coxeter Fellows will based at both institutions, doing the bulk of their research at Perimeter Institute and teaching one course per year at University of Toronto.

Perimeter Institute is located west of Toronto, in Waterloo, Canada. The Institute offers an exceptional research environment and is currently staffed with 40 full-time and part-time faculty members, 54 Distinguished Visiting Research Chairs, 55 Postdoctoral Researchers, 61 Graduate Students, and 31 exceptional master’s-level students participating in Perimeter Scholars International. The Department of Mathematics, University of Toronto is a distinguished faculty of more than sixty mathematicians with a large selection of graduate courses and seminars, and a diverse student body of domestic and international students. The department is in a unique position to take maximum advantage of the presence of the Fields Institute, which features special programs in pure and applied mathematics. Currently the department has 139 graduate students, of whom 27 are enrolled in the Master's program and 104 in the Ph.D. program.
