Daily dispatches from Convergence, including interviews, observations, and more.

A lot of time and chalk went into this particular black hole.

Savas Dimopoulos

Savas Dimopoulos is a Distinguished Visiting Research Chair at Perimeter Institute, and a professor of physics at Stanford University.

Sara Seager

Sara Seager (Professor of Planetary Science and Physics, MIT) is considered a pioneer in the search for exoplanets. Her work led to the first detection of an exoplanet atmosphere, and in 2013, she was named a MacArthur Fellow.
Doddy Marsh

Doddy Marsh (Postdoctoral Fellow, Perimeter Institute) completed his PhD at the University of Oxford.

Mae Hwee Teo

Mae Hwee Teo graduated from the University of Illinois and worked at Fermilab before attending PSI, and will pursue her PhD at Stanford.

Avery Broderick

Cosmologist Avery Broderick (Associate Faculty member, Perimeter Institute) focuses on black holes, and leads Perimeter's Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Initiative.
Aysha Abdel-Aziz

Aysha Abdel-Aziz is a Canadian PhD student at Perimeter Institute. She is studying the role of entanglement entropy in gauge/gravity duality under the supervision of Robert Myers.

With Convergence just days away, we here at Perimeter Institute are turning our minds towards all the ways disparate things can converge.

Immanuel Bloch

Immanuel Bloch (Scientific Director, Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics) works on ultracold atoms in artificial crystals of light, and was the first to realize a quantum phase transition from a superfluid to a Mott insulator. He has received multiple awards, including the Gottfried Willhelm Leibniz Prize and the Korber European Science Prize.
Nergis Mavalvala

Nergis Mavalvala (Professor of Astrophysics, MIT) works on instrument development, precision measurements, and data analysis at LIGO and Advanced LIGO, the gravitational wave interferometer. In 2010 she was named a MacArthur Fellow.
