A strong consensus builder, the Director will have a broad view of theoretical physics and an understanding and respect for the diversity of approaches to foundational issues represented at the Institute. Critical to the continued growth of Perimeter Institute will be the Director’s ability to recognize profound scientific talent and to recruit internationally renowned researchers. A commitment to supporting the Institute’s continuing efforts to create world-class graduate training and educational outreach programs is of vital importance.
In leading the next phase in the Institute's development, the incoming Director will be supported by a highly experienced senior management team. While continuing to be active in research, he/she will be charged with overall scientific direction of the Institute; development and oversight of all scientific programs and initiatives; leading all recruitment and review processes; maintaining the unique scientific and cultural atmosphere of the Institute; maximizing interaction, relationships and partnerships between the Institute and the local, national and international scientific and academic community; representing the institute to governments and their agencies and participating in fundraising initiatives. Support will also be provided by Perimeter’s Board of Directors composed of leaders in business and academia; eminent researchers on PI’s Scientific Advisory Council; and numerous other volunteers committed to supporting Perimeter’s mission.
