Supported by the Manager, Infrastructure and Desktop Services the Audio Visual/Media Producer is responsible for supporting the Institute’s varied audio/video needs, as well as the production and creation of media content.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Lecture Capture

  • Recording and uploading of scientific lectures
  • Operate Tri-Caster with five video and two audio feeds
  • Assist with presentation and audio set-up with lecturers
  • Route and capture content across a Crestron Control System

Event Support

  • Assisting with A/V needs for events within the Institute
  • Contribute as a technical crew member for live broadcasts
  • Lighting, staging and A/V set-up and tear down for on-site events
  • Operate ENG and robotic cameras in a live-steaming environment
  • Work with outside A/V contractors and broadcasters

AV Support

  • Assisting with all other Institute activities requiring A/V support (such as videoconferencing, presentations, self-recording))
  • Operate A/V equipment (ENG camera, audio capture) both on and off site
  • Provide solutions for A/V help tickets on short notice

Media Production

  • Record and edit interviews with faculty and visiting scientists
  • Produce high quality video content for various platforms and audiences to ensure alignment of vision, branding, and implementation
  • Design and animate dynamic motion graphics and creative assets
  • Ability to develop and construct a focused narrative

Administrative Support

  • Provide guidance and supervision of required volunteers, co-op students and casual employees
  • Monitor and maintain technical inventory for the Institute  
  • Other duties as required

Key Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary education in Broadcasting or Audio Visual field
  • 2-3 years’ experience working with audio visual equipment, preferably in a live environment
  • Ability to operate all audio visual equipment and perform minor maintenance
  • Switch audio and video sources through a multimedia production system
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of, and continued learning of Crestron Control Systems
  • Proficient in operating a digital sound board and audio processing
  • Comfortable working within a team in a live-to-web environment
  • Ability to listen and take direction during a live broadcast
  • Basic working knowledge on networks (i.e. IP, routing, switchers, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Production Premium suite
  • Effectively manage self-directed production and editing schedules
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills
